Hi,
I am seriously thinking about cutting sweets and fried foods out of my diet completely. I'm obese and because of that, I have a much greater risk of diabetes and heart disease and stuff like that. What I was wondering is if anyone has ever been successful in cutting out fried foods and sweets, How'd you do it? My weight has become a problem, and I just wanna start doing what's right for my body before something bad happens. thanks in advance,
Leslie

This is one of the best systems out there, not so much a diet plan but a lifestyle for eating. It helps simplify your diet by giving you a "points system" for food - healthy food is less points, junkfood is more points - and a point limit for the day or week.
On top of that, you're also given access to a support group of people who are also trying to learn to eat healthy and lose weight to better their lives.
It's simple, but it'snot easy.
Cutting by itself helps but mixing it with exercise is much more effective.
Can you find a way to run, cycle or swim or something like that, 30 minutes a day, 4 days a week, set the times, give yourself no exceptions, except if you are not used to exercise at all start with twice a week easy but make sure you keep pushing.
When you get craving for a sweet, have an apple, then ask yourself if you want the candy, I found apple extremely handy in battling cravings along with chewing gum and switch soda to water, especially after work out.
I also use coffee and a very moderate doze of exercise pills, used hydroxicut but only a 4th of the recommended doze 3 days in a row breaking for 2, for me it worked wonders but I suppose it's politically incorrect to recommend them.
The key is simply this, stick to it, don't cheat, don't give yourself days off, give yourself occasional, may be once a week, day to eat more unhealthy foods but try to keep portions reasonable, one fruit before any big meal, eat your plate and wait 10 minutes after you have eaten it to determine if you really want a scond, your bdy takes a while to send signals that you're full to your brain.
This is what you need to do, it's not easy, you can have pograms and pay money to get help or support or what have you, but it doesn't change the underlying work one bit.
Cheers and good luck.
Hi Well, I for one don't eat a lot of fried foods because I have a sensitive tummy, however, my downfall is sweets. I've started eating dark chocolates. its weird because I thought I didn't like dark chocolates but now I do.

great advice wildebrew. another thing I have found helps is if you absolutely positively gotta have it is take three bites. after that your body is used to the taste and it means nothing. so cut a teeny piece of cake. also, don't eat the chips or whatever out of the bag. get a bowl, put a small handful in there, go in to another room, sit down, put on some soft music, and then eat them. no exceptions no excuses. i have found that the extra work lessens the desire. I'm a sweet junkie. I eat one cookie a day at lunch. no dessert at dinner. besides apples, I love those grape tomatoes. also, if i cut the apple in small pieces it makes it go down better.
All great suggestions. try baked foods. I've found several recipes for oven fried chicken that are reasonably healthy. Use low fat dressings like salsa on your food to give it more flavor. I love foods like Angel food cake that are reasonably low fat. I don't like dark chocolate, unless it's mixed with Mint. The three musketeers mint bars really rock. I also love baked chips and pretzels. I love Pita chips. If you like ice cream, try frozen yogurt or sherbet. Do you have a blender? Smoothies are a great way to stop sweet cravings. Just load them with lots of fruit, and you'll not only have a yummy treat, but you'll get some of your fruit intake in for te day as well. If you want a burger and fries once in awhile, have it, just eat well for the rest of the week.
If you want to put a stop to your candy eating, try having fresh food fruit near at hand cut in a bowl in the fridge or at least some where where it's easier than picking a chocolate. It tastes better to.
Fruit is a great idea, as is carrob as opposed to chocolate.
It isn't what you eat as much as how much you eat. By following the hackers diet which basically boils down to eat less callorys then you burn I was able to lose 25 pounds in three months. I was also excersizing which helped with the wait loss, it should still work for you if you don't excersize but you'll lose less weight. Read this link for more info.
